FANUC ROBODRILL CNC Machines

FANUC ROBODRILL vertical machining centers are built for speed, reliability, consistency, and automation ready production. These compact BBT30 machining platforms are trusted by manufacturers around the world for drilling, tapping, and high speed milling where cycle time, uptime, and repeatability matter more than having a large footprint machine.

Methods Machine Tools supports ROBODRILL customers with automation integration, process development, and nationwide service, whether you run a single machine or a large-production plant.

As we say at Methods, “If your part fits on a RoboDrill, it should be cut on RoboDrill!”

What Makes ROBODRILL Different

What started as a drill and tap machine, the ROBODRILL has evolved over the years into a dynamic platform ready to cut a range of materials whether in the traditional, 3-axis setup, 4-axis with a rotary table, or full, simultaneous 5-axis machining.. It is designed to operate with the lowest downtime and highest reliability that deliver repeatable accuracy.

High speed motion and fast tool changes

The RoboDrill’s spindle operate at 10K – 24K RPM with higher rigidity than even a competitor’s  27K spindle. The RoboDrill features TCP with rotational axis compensation to ensure the tightest tolerances cut after cut at 1.4 seconds from chip to chip.

FANUC control platform and motion quality

ROBODRILL pairs the machine with FANUC CNC architecture, including the FANUC 31i-B and 31i-B5 CNC system and motion control features called out by Methods such as Ai Contour Control and thermal growth compensation.

Compact footprint that scales

Your baseline copy is right to emphasize throughput per square foot. ROBODRILL lets manufacturers scale output by adding machines and automation without expanding floor space.

Built for automation from the start

ROBODRILL is commonly deployed with robotic tending, probing, and pallet systems. Methods explicitly position the platform as easy to automate, with dedicated automation solutions available.

Benefits of FANUC ROBODRILL CNC Machines

Shorter cycle times in drilling and tapping work

Fast tool changes [0.7 seconds tool to tool], rapid motion [2,126 in./min rapids], and rigid tapping-oriented capability reduce cycle time, especially on parts with many holes, threads, and tool changes.

Consistent accuracy and repeatability at production speeds

Stable machine construction and FANUC motion control are designed to hold consistent part geometry over long production runs.

Lower cost of ownership and high uptime focus

Your baseline calls out ROI driven by uptime and operating efficiency, which matches how ROBODRILL is typically justified in production environments.

Flexible production for high mix or high volume

ROBODRILL works in high volume production and high mix job shop environments, particularly where setups are frequent and cycle time matters.

Strong technical foundation for common ROBODRILL configurations

Official ROBODRILL literature commonly lists BBT30 taper, 14/21/28 tool ATC, rapid traverse up to 2,126 inches per minute, and optional 24,000 rpm spindle configurations depending on model.

FAQ: FANUC ROBODRILL CNC Machines

Simply put, if your part fits on a RoboDrill, it should be cut a on a RoboDrill. The platform excels across operations, whether milling, drilling, tapping, and facing, including complex geometries and materials.

Superior throughput per square foot often matters more than maximum travel. ROBODRILL is designed to minimize noncutting time and scale easily, back by the highest reliability in its class and 35 years of Methods technology and service experience Additionally, the RoboDrill features market-leading reliability based on: -Lifetime maintenance policy -9-year mean time between failures on a RoboDrill vs. 5-year failure rate for competitive 30 taper -5,000,000 tool changes on a RoboDrill before preventative maintenance is required (60-second cycle times, 2000 annual hours, at 60 parts per hour)

As the leading FANUC System Integrator in North America, we pair the FANUC RoboDrill exclusively with FANUC robotics to ensure the smoothest, most consistent automation. For more than 30 years, we have automated the FANUC RoboDrill for manufacturers throughout North America. Our team of automation experts collaborates with you every step of the way, from initial planning and selecting the right machines, to work-process design and application engineering, to the final on-site installation and proof of concept and capability. We offer a suite of floor-ready, fully integrated systems such as the Plus K60, Plus E, PC2, and Sidekick. We also offer full turnkey automation solutions for the FANUC RoboDrill.

Yes. Methods integrates the RoboDrill with 4- and 5-axis tables from leading global suppliers. We manage the integration during the build process and service any integrated solutions for the lifetime of your machine.

BBT30 taper, 14-tool, 21-tool, or 28-tool ATC, rapid traverse figures, and optional high speed spindle configurations are commonly referenced in official ROBODRILL specifications.

FANUC controls are widely supported by CAM systems, and training is available through Training Services.
