On Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 4 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. at Amerimold 2015, two moldmaking industry experts will present real world examples on how the application of the latest multi-axis machining technology transformed a moldmaker from a shop utilizing conventional production techniques of repeat machining, fitting and polishing, to a world class mold manufacturer applying highly precise, predictable machining as well as faster, streamlined production and fewer operations.

Methods Machine Tools, Inc. YASDA Die & Mold Project Manager, Jeff Johnson and Extreme Tool and Engineering Inc. President, Mike Zacharias will present an overview on unique, ultra-high precision machine technology utilizing sub micron accuracies, thermal compensation enclosures and how these and other features directly contribute to net (zero) machining, cycle time reductions and Six Sigma level quality results.

Zacharias will examine how substantial mold process improvements and cycle time reductions can be achieved on cavity and core blocks, including polish time reductions or elimination and cost-effective cavity milling in materials of 60 Rc and harder with polish-level finishes. Real world examples will include Extreme Tool and how their YASDA YBM 640V3 3-Axis CNC Vertical Jig Borer provides high speed, precision boring and milling operations for high accuracy mold, die and complex component manufacturing. The YBM 640V3 simplifies moldmaking in industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical, defense and more, as well as the production of electronic, optical and other extremely complex components. The accuracy and rigidity of the YBM 640V3 Jig Borer virtually eliminates the need for hand polishing.

Attendees will learn how the new machining technology enables implementation of mold manufacturing and dramatic increases in productivity and profitability.
