POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Service Engineer to lead advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of CNC milling and turning machines at customer sites. This senior-level role demands expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems, including CNC controls, with the ability to mentor junior technicians and support continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-driven problem solver with extensive field experience, exceptional communication skills, and a strong commitment to delivering world-class service and technical leadership.

RESPONSIBILITES IN ROLE:
Mechanical Responsibilities:
- Lead complex mechanical diagnostics and repairs on CNC milling and turning machines.
- Oversee and perform advanced repairs on automatic tool changers, pallet systems, spindles, and turret mechanisms.
- Execute precision replacements and alignments of ball screws and axis support bearings.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems with minimal supervision.
- Interpret and review mechanical drawings and part prints to guide accurate repairs and support junior staff.
Electrical Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot advanced electrical and electronic systems, including CNC controls and complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Interpret ladder and wiring diagrams to diagnose and resolve system issues.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic tools (e.g., digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, phase checkers) to pinpoint faults.
- Program and repair CNC control systems (Fanuc experience required; additional control systems a plus).
- Support installation and commissioning of new CNC systems.
Customer Interaction and Support:
- Serve as a senior technical point of contact for both internal and external customer inquiries and escalated service issues.
- Provide consultative support to customers, including training on basic preventive maintenance and system usage.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through effective communication and service excellence.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering timely and high-quality service, fostering long-term partnerships.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Mentor and support junior field technicians, providing training, guidance, and on-the-job coaching.
- Assist with technical documentation, service bulletins, and process improvements.
- Contribute to service strategy, feedback loops, and product reliability enhancements.
- Lead by example in professionalism, accountability, and customer engagement.
- Must pay strict attention to safety protocols and ensure that those around them are held to the same high standard.
required qualifications & skills
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in CNC field service.
- Expert-level knowledge of CNC platforms and controls.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring technicians or leading service projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and field service reporting tools.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting expertise.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, part prints, ladder diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic instruments and electrical testing tools.
supervisory responsibilities
- Informal leadership responsibilities, including mentoring, training, and peer guidance.
- Potential to grow into formal team lead or supervisory role.
TRAVEL
- Regular National travel to customer sites is required for this position.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required for special projects or support needs.

- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, twist, crawl, and climb ladders up to 8 feet.
- Must have reliable transportation and maintain a clean driving record.
